We know him for his sweet, quiet demeanor and his sweaters. But recently his wardrobe and appearance began causing quite a stir among POstables. |

It started with the Oliver-esque comb-over spotted on the set of one of the upcoming films.
Yes, we'd seen the new cut in From Paris with Love. We'd even seen the more form-fitting sweaters and collared shirts. But we hadn't seen quite yet was the little bit of swag it seemed to infuse in Norman's character. Since when was it ok to ignore Rita?! I also think the clean-cut look on Norman somehow makes him look so much older and more grown up. |

Why the change?
I would start with Norman's house rule, which called for him to "...follow his dream...whoever it is." As we saw in From Paris with Love, Norman finally decided to make a move with Rita, resulting in that truly sweet moment between he and Rita at the end of the film. So, for all intents and purposes, Norman's decision to take action probably has him feeling pretty confident--- a confidence infused into every aspect of his character, including his wardrobe. It could also be interpreted as a visual representation of Norman's increasing readiness to step into the role that Oliver has been seemingly grooming Norman for during his five years at the Denver Main Branch. I think its clear Oliver intends to leave the DLO to Norman, making him Oliver's eventual successor. More recently, as we discussed with the poster for Truth Be Told, Norman being featured in the forefront of the poster likely indicates his stepping forward to handle his own mail investigation, Rita by his side. He's really growing up, you guys! Just look at that probably tailored pea coat he's wearing! Side by side with Oliver, it's hard not to think they could be related! |

Norman's continued growth is only reaffirmed by taking a look at some of the behind the scenes photos snapped during filming inJune and July.

From his well-fitting suit and tie to the plaid shirt, it's definitely a step in a more professional direction. Norman has never been spotted rocking a tie---a bow tie, yes---but not a tie. It's very reminiscent of Oliver's look, in fact, it's practically straight out of his playbook! Could it signal an upcoming coup?
Probably not---but I think it signals the growth of someone who has finally discovered how many good things can happen when he has the courage to pursue them, from his actions to his wardrobe! I can't wait to see more.
