Hope you're having a wonderful day, as good as the one described in this clever Christmas poem dropped into my email last night from fellow POstable, Tracy, written in the style of "The Night Before Christmas."
All departments were dark except the DLO.
Garland and lights decked the halls, candles in the room all aglow,
The Yoo Hoos on ice, this party’s a go.
Four stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
Norman beaming with pride as his first now hangs there.
Such a shimmering tree with a starfish on top,
Hoping Jordan the angel may still make a stop.
Shane and Rita snapping selfies in the tree’s Christmas glow,
When they asked Oliver to join, he politely said "NO.”
Mistletoe hung up above for some affection and bliss,
Norman and Rita pause under for a holiday kiss.
The guest list was small, just some family and friends,
With Kimsicle around, the fun never ends.
Papa O’Toole all handsome in his holiday best,
Dale came late with the goose as her guest.
Even Bearthazar was all festive in his tartan bow tie,
Though he left in a hurry all were glad he stopped by.
Somehow Holly’s O’Toole’s invite got lost,
And Steve’s RSVP got mysteriously tossed.
The table was adorned with a holiday feast,
Mailbox Grille catered with a delicious roast beast.
Surf and turf was a choice and it's also fun to say,
Lest we not forget the PUNCH, I heard it was quite good this day.
Rita’s blue cheese cookies were there complete with the mustard,
Though everyone chose Montaldo’s curd & lemon custard.
They sang carols and hymns which filled them with glee,
Then Secret Santa gifts were exchanged under the tree.
Norman received a Dark of Night Award polishing kit,
Oliver a sign “Maybe the rock was holding onto it.”
Rita got owl slippers that hooted as she stepped,
Shane a gift card to shoes.com I think she almost wept.
Papa O’Toole got all the hiking pics on a fancy CD-ROM,
Dale got a much needed gift card for Match.Com.
Shane and Oliver danced the dance in the candle’s romantic glow,
Norman and Rita hugged by the window as they watched the falling snow.
Kimsicle flirted with Dale as Ramon dealt the cards,
Poker was a must as Papa strummed his guitar.
Eleanor’s blender was whirring as they remembered their friend,
Her signature concoction for sure the pitcher would rend.
Kombucha smoothies were poured for the evening’s final toast,
As they needed to thank the people who mattered most.
“We raise a glass to the #POstables on this snowy Christmas Eve,
So thankful for their loyalty and the way they believe.”
And we know there’s only one wish at the top of their list,
So Hallmark - Deliver2018 - On this we insist!
May the Alameda & Downing street sign be covered in snow,
And may your porch swing be wrapped up with love and a bow.
From my mailbox to yours at the end your street,
We’ve become family with the clicks and the send of a tweet.
So the Road Less Traveled will take us to new places,
And along the way we’ll meet new #POstable faces.
As the SSD adventures continue as Martha’s continues to raise the bar,
And Chandel’s words to always there to guide us just like the Christmas Star.
I wish you all a holiday season that’s lovely and sweet,
And my the New Year be wonderful, that’s worth a retweet!
Merry Christmas #POstables!
