Wednesday-Friday
Saturday
Early Afternoon A young lady, who we come to know as Nikki, struggles to decide whether or not to mail a letter to her boyfriend, Graham, and the man she encounters at the mailbox encourages her to mail it. We come to find out the man, Dudley Curly, is actually hijacking the mail for his own nefarious to-be-determined purposes, leaving a clue in Latin inside the mailbox in lieu of the mail. |
An evening that seemed to be starting off well at the end of From The Heart, Shane and Oliver share a disastrous evening at Montaldo's that finds Oliver putting Shane on defense and slowly breaking her heart, and his own.
Later that same evening, Graham breaks up with Nikki as they close up for evening, breaking her heart. Matters are only more complicated when she discovers the numbers of the lottery ticket she enclosed match most of the nights' winning numbers, making it extremely valuable.
Monday
Oliver is called on by Chief of Security, Lester Kimsicle, to determine the perpetrator of mail theft at several locations in South Denver using the bizarre items left behind in the violated receptacles. With the help of the last clue, Oliver quickly determines that the perpetrator is a fellow postal worker, and enlists Rita, Norman and Shane to assist. After a good look at the map of incidents, Shane figures out that Nikki may have met their suspect and calls her in for some more information and a sketch.
While they wait for the sketch to be completed, Shane and Oliver visit Dale, at Oliver's suggestion, to get a better idea of who they might be dealing with, and end up concluding that the culprit is targeting O'Toole's and the only one they haven't accounted for is Papa O'Toole. Back at the DLO, Nikki finally reveals why getting her letter back is so important. Meanwhile, Oliver meets with his father and together, with the help of Norman's sketch, determine Joe's old friend, Dudley Curly, is their man, and, after reporting their findings to OPS, end up in the middle of a standoff in front of Curly's house. |
Later That Week?
Whatever the case, Shane, still wounded from their dinner and increasingly uncertain with Dale still in their midst, arrives at the party only to find Oliver otherwise occupied with the aforementioned attendee. Rita observes the situation and jumps into action, offering Oliver cake and publicly reminding him of his dinner with Shane.
One bite of cake sends Oliver into a flashback, where we find out he not only continued to be indecisive when it came to Shane, but that her heart basically broke in front of him and he froze, powerless to do anything about it. Recognizing his folly and choosing to overcome his tendency to retreat to the familiar, Oliver promptly pulls Shane aside to invite her for a second chance dinner. It's a date! Shane reveals that her rose cutting unexpectedly took, and gifts Oliver the first rose of summer. Reconciled and hopeful, they re-join their friends to enjoy the festivities.
