"She Just Wants To Dance"- Keb' Mo' Listen on: Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Buy on: iTunes, Amazon "One Friend" & "France" - Keb' Mo' Listen on: Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Buy on: iTunes, Amazon They're the songs to which Gabe and Hattie's love story continue to unfold as the POstables continue reading Gabe's letter at the Mailbox Grille. |
"Every Morning" - Keb' Mo' Listen on: Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Buy on: iTunes, Amazon You may not have realized it, but the first time you hear this song is long before you ever hear the lyrics. It's actually the acoustic piece playing as Shane and Oliver walk up the steps and share that off-screen kiss outside the Ephlat Lounge. Unfortunately, the next time you hear it with lyrics is when Oliver moves Shane's desk out of his sight-line in the DLO. |
"Anybody Seen My Girl" - Keb' Mo' Listen on: Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Buy on: iTunes, Amazon It was the heartbreaking ballad that perfectly captured Oliver's longing for Shane to return home, remaining faithful to the promises he made to tend to her garden and squeaky porch swing, as well as to find Gabe. |
"God Trying To Get Your Attention" - Keb' Mo' Due to unfortunate editing, there's a line about finding "higher ground" that you can only hear if you listen very carefully as soon as the scene begins. It's the song we hear when the POstables finally find Gabe. It's also symbolic because one of the last discussions Shane and Oliver had was about discerning the Will of God. |
"Hand It Over" - Keb' Mo' Listen on: Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Buy on: iTunes, Amazon It was the tune you couldn't help but sing along with and had embedded in it a universal truth we could all benefit from. Not to mention it was a the tune Hattie not only remembered, but could sing along to---lots of double-meaning there. |
"Claire de lune" - Claude Debussy What struck me about this music choice is that one of the more prominent times we heard it was during From Paris With Love when Oliver met Holly for drinks. I still haven't figured out what that means, but I can at least tell you it's the song underlying this beautiful moment in Higher Ground. |
