You know you need these tracks ASAP!

They tell a story all their own. Here are the tracks in From The Heart and where they fit!

"Signed, Sealed, Delivered" - Stevie Wonder

Opening credits---always.

"Brand New Key" - Melanie
The musical representation of Ryan and Maddie's uniquely complimentary relationship this folksy tune is the first new track out of the 2016 canon.

Not surprisingly, the song also bears a strong tie to Shane and Oliver's relationship---the reader versus the binge-watcher, email sender versus the letter writer. Like Maddie and Ryan, Shane and Oliver are equal, opposite, and perfect for each other!

On a side note I have become completely obsessed with this song---it has been on repeat for DAYS.

"Turn Me On" - Norah Jones

This was the song playing while Shane and Oliver were at the Mailbox Grille consoling Norman. Jones' classic voice is a perfect fit for the Grille's typical musical vibes, but also the lyrics speak of someone waiting for their love to come home, much like Norman is waiting for Rita.

"Ain't Misbehavin'"

As Shane covertly checks in on Oliver on Valentine's night, this song is playing in the background.

Written about saving all their love for that special someone, it certainly fits these two, who are holding out for each other.

If only Shane had had the courage to knock on his door....

"The Water Is Wide"

A hymn with multiple attributions this is, in fact, the song Shane and Oliver dance to at Montaldo's. I picked Charlotte Church's version because it gets us as close to what they're dancing to as I could find---and I listened to MANY, including a version by Bob Dylan.

We know this is the correct song because Oliver quotes a modified stanza of the lyrics:

The water is wide and I can't cross over
Neither have I wings that I could fly
Build me a boat that can carry two
And [the two] shall row [to the other side].

One wonders why he modified the last line, which should be "And we shall row, my love and I"---But we can discuss that more next week...

The obvious connection is to the conversation entertained by Oliver and Norman about rafts during their "man time." More to come on that!

The same music that played in From Paris with Love, played again when Rita and Norman kissed. That brought back memories from that film.

The music plays such a strong roll in how the audience sees and feels about the events occurring at the time. Martha does a great job on telling that message.

Signed Sealed Delivered has so many messages to give us.

I absolutely love all the movies.

The song that is playing during the Yoo Hoo scene is killing me...I own it. Or at least a version of it...but can't hear any of the words so I'm having a hard time placing it. It'll come to me...but someone will probably beat me to it! GRRRRR!!! :)

I think it's a person of "Don't know Why" by Norah Jones...can't tell if it's her version. But I think that's the song. Anyone else?

Ok I'm cheating. For various reasons haven't seen film yet BUT I've heard the song titles. I looked up "The Water is Wide" on Wikipedia. Traditional lyrics about love growing cold and fading away "like morning dew". But in the section called "Lyrics" there's several nicer versions including one Australian version that is about long lasting true love. I hope that's where Martha is taking the song and ShOliver. But she always makes us take that journey will her and that why we love her creation so much.

As for the Melanie song -- just too cute!! So appropriate. Thanks Chandel for providing us with this music so we can have our very own SSD playlist

So funny... My mom was singing "Brand New Key" just last week! Now it's stuck in both our heads.

I totally get why Oliver didn't use the "my love and I" line - it's WAY too soon to drop the 'L' word - even if that IS what he feels (which he totally does). After all, they're only on their first OFFICIALLY official date! 😀❤

But I totally squealed like the fangirl that I am when he called her Shane without prevocation/being in distress/trying to get her to stop running away.

Looking forward to the next installment & progression of their relationship!

Could someone PLEASE tell me the name of the background music in "From the Heart"opening? iPLUS it plays in the background of several other movies in this series Signed, Sealed, Delivered/ We used to sing it in our church choir and LOVED it!!! The Water is Wide has thr same melody as the hymn 'One Love Released'. We sing it at church.
