"Kristin dropped by my house the morning after [January] TCAs for breakfast and ran into my sixteen-year-old daughter Isabel. Kristin very sweetly mentioned that she knew Isabel loves ballroom dance and said 'I’d love to see you dance sometime.' And Isabel quipped, 'Well, actually, I’m dancing at a showcase tonight. Wanna come?' And, amazingly, right in the middle of her second honeymoon, Kristin and her husband actually SHOWED UP at my daughter’s recital. We sat together and watched students at various levels perform. I was, of course, a proud mama but still amazed that Kristin would give up her Saturday night like that. But that’s just who she is."
"At the end of the performance, it was announced that two of the co-owners of the studio, World Latin Ballroom champions Nikolai Voronovich and Maria Nikolishina were in town and would grace us with a special performance to close out the evening. Kristin and I sat side by side wiping tears away as we watched this amazing couple dance [see below]. Nikolai was sporting a light beard, not unlike the one we had seen Eric Mabius wearing the night before. And Kristin whispered, 'he looks a little like Eric.' And I whispered, 'and she looks like you!' And we looked at each other and our eyes got wide and we laughed and suddenly I knew that we were all destined to return to Montaldo’s." |
"What we saw in that remarkable dance by Nikolai and Maria that evening was the love and longing we have witnessed in Oliver and Shane for so long and it made me imagine how [they] would feel if they’d been sitting there in Pasadena instead of me. [Shane and Oliver] would have to recognize the similarities and imagine themselves on that dance floor, experiencing vicariously the power of two people who had 'found their rhythm.' And they would necessarily have to find the answer to the question of what would happen 'if I loved you.'" For those of you still wondering who was envisioning what and when during the dance, "if you watch closely, you will see that it is Shane who first imagines “Sophia” in the red dress. She looks over to Oliver, who is lamenting that 'words wouldn’t come in an easy way, round in circles I’d go.' And soon Oliver is watching Nikolai literally dancing circles in his head. And by the end, Oliver has once again let his 'golden chances”'pass him by. As they say, 'every little movement has a meaning!'" |
"It was a thrill to have Nikolai and Maria join us in Vancouver. They are consummate professionals with great hearts and great talent. And they even stepped in to help Eric and Kristin with their choreography. It was an unforgettable day." No question their "One In A Million" performance---and everything conveyed in it---will be unforgettable for POstables, too! From what we've seen so far, Lost Without You has similar potential, Martha says it "should be quite a different show and is one of everyone’s favorites." While we wait for it to air, Martha will be writing the next script, which the gang gets back together to film this October! Look for it to air in 2017. |
With Renewed Appreciation,
