Impossible Dream: Unanswered Questions

There are a few things I'm still pondering...

There were glitches in Truth Be Told, but in Impossible Dream, there were a lot of unanswered questions! Here are a few that still have me scratching my head...

So about those roses...

Oliver may have done something sweet by taking that cut off of Shane's rose bush, but I have to wonder----where will she plant it?!

Looks to me like her garden of hope is already overflowing, as in there isn't room for a rosebush. Maybe out back?

Case in short: I look forward to seeing how that all works out!

Why didn't Shane attend Becky's wedding?

For two women who went through the "postal wars together" and were self-proclaimed besties, was I the only one who found it odd that Shane wasn't the Maid Of Honor?

Also, why was there no mention of Becky dating anyone when she was in town. If you think about timing, one has to wonder how she met and married this alleged prince charming so fast.

I don't know about you, but I'm scratching me head a bit about Ms. Starkwell---or Mrs. Somebody now, I guess...

More Than A Detour

As I'm sure you all remember, Shane grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. Both Oliver and Shane ask to take "small detours" to her childhood home on the way to/from the airport.

Well I'll tell you, look at any map and you'll find out that Alexandria is actually south of any of the three major D.C.-area airports. That means the detour to Shane's old stomping ground were pretty out of the way.

This only caught my attention because I made the trip to Alexandria last time I was in D.C., and I definitely didn't remember it being on the way to the airport!

I wondered about a lot of things. The Becky comment seemed like an Epic fail. A simple comment about elopement or a few added lines like "weren't you in her wedding in May, Miss McInerney?" Yes. But they delayed their honeymoon because he's a teacher. It was as out of character as the sudden garden growth and Norman & Rita's non-reaction to Shane showing up to work in TBT.

I also wondered when Oliver took the cutting from the roses. And the detour for the airport...it was a several miles detour. It would've cost them probably at least a half hour I'd no one was on the road depending on where the hotel was & which airport.
The other thing that kind of puzzled me was how sick Phoebe's grandfather seemed at the National Postal Museum...and he just went back to the hotel. He's on dialysis. You wouldn't blow off feeling that badly.
I tend to think about all the slightly odd/off things after. I try the "suspended disbelief" tactic until the second watching unless something is really off.

I noticed the glitches and some can be explained.
The Rose clipping can not really happen without lots of great care and expertise. Most rose bushes are highbreds. They are not cold loving plants so without being grafted to a sturdy Wild rose root, the high bred rose will not survive. I don't think it is possible or realistic to believe you just take a cutting (or clip a flower) and presto you can get a rose. From what I understand roses are not that hardy and needs lots of extra care to grow them.
I think the cutting Oliver gave Shane was a flower to remember her childhood home. Something to press into a book. A memory to build from but not the actual rose to plant.

I Google mapped the route from Alexandria Virginia and Washington DC. Only 8 miles! From where I live that is a short, off the path, drive. I also checked the nearest airport - Ronald Reagan International. Only 3 miles from Alexandria. Again, very close. What shocked me was the time frame Google Maps said it would take to drive 8 miles in DC area. 30 minutes! Is that nuts or what. I think if I were visiting DC and I couldn't make a 16 mile round trip to see my childhood home, would seem a wasted trip.
But I guess considering the amount of actual travel time in DC could certainly change my mind.

Becky may have eloped but it seems more said about her seemly sudden marriage would have explained that away.
I did notice Becky had been wearing a ring on her left hand.
In the actual episodes with Becky visiting the DLO, they never once mentioned Becky's love life. The only talk about anyone's love life was Becky mentioning Steve and how she thought he was a jerk. Becky did think that Shane liked Oliver but told her to find someone like Oliver that was not married.

There are inconsistencies in the movies and fun to think about. It's the mysteries of movie making and imaginations. Things are never quite as real as real life.

The glitch I noticed the most was between From Paris with Love and Truth Be Told. You went from Friday night, snow falling, crocus just sprouting to Monday morning with a garden in full bloom. Not even Miracle grow can do that. LOL

Though I love the series, it'd be nice to see a bit more editing. Besides comments above, we see Rita playing guitar after she says in the earlier TV series she doesn't know how to play a musical instrument and has to memorize the US Postal Code for her pageant talent. She sprouts long bangs (partial wig) that come and go. Maybe each show is meant to stand on its own.

I've wondered why Oliver refers to Phoebe's grandfather as SIR Harper Ferguson. In addition to the questions about Becky's wedding, I've wondered why Shane didn't know about Becky's promotion before coming to Denver. Had they not talked at all since Shane left DC?
