Before I started A&D, I was an occasional SSD fanfic writer. When inspiration struck, I wrote. And, of course, what more inspiration did one need than a look at the trailer for From Paris With Love to get the creative juices flowing?
Today I share with you a couple pieces I wrote just prior to the premiere, most of which center on the initial interactions between Holly, Oliver and Shane, as well as the fallout of her return. If you end up reading some of these and think you've read deeper reflections on some aspects here on A&D you would be right---if anything these pieces prove I was preparing to write this blog long before it ever came to be!
And, before you ask, yes, I wrote all of them before film aired....you may find yourself asking this question later...

Homecoming
 | Set on exploring what it might be like for Holly to come back, I considered how Shane might handle the situation, and played around with the idea of creating two separate paths the outcome could take. Will Shane support Oliver's pursuit of Holly, or will Oliver have a plan of his own? You get to choose! Read |
The Snowglobe
 | Hands down my favorite of the bunch, this one came out surprisingly close to where things landed with Shane and Oliver in From Paris With Love, though you'll find Oliver takes a bit more of a direct approach. There's a little bit of drama to this one I liked working through, and I think it's one you'll enjoy, too. Read |
Handle With Care
 | It all stems from that one awkward moment between Shane and Holly in the promo. I needed to try playing that out for myself, and perhaps even get a better grip on who Holly O'Toole really was. Was she immediately suspicious of Shane, causing her to be territorial, or was she simply so lost in her own world that Shane's presence there was inconsequential? How should we imagine what life (and love) was like for Holly and Oliver before she decided to leave? Remember, we didn't know the circumstances in which they met, leaving the story of how they fell in love unwritten. I unashamedly played around with all these concepts and questions from each Holly, Shane and Oliver's perspectives, and even managed to weave in that critical conversation about birds from "The Edge Of Forever." All of these works are meant to prepare you for something big: Next week we celebrate not only a year since From Paris With Love aired, but also one year of A&D. The entire week is dedicated to the first installment the blog ever covered!
