You know I love to run down the music of each new SSD installment. I've created a playlist for From Paris With Love, Truth Be Told and Impossible Dream. And with help from some fellow Postables, I got my hands on some of the orchestral music courtesy of Jeff Tymoschok and SoundCloud.
But imagine my surprise when James Jandrisch reached out to me via the A&D inbox. Not only did he reveal one of the difficult to identify tracks in From Paris With Love, he also had a pretty neat story to tell about it, that I thought I'd share with you in his own words: "Hey Chandel, James Jandrisch here. I'm the composer for the show. I find your support for SSD absolutely delightful!!!! I figured I show do my part and send you one of those "hard to find tracks." In truth, the demands of producing a project for television are huge. Often we find ourselves scrambling to find a track to use in the show. We may have a tune in mind but it can fall through at the last minute. In many cases it may be up to me then to fill in the gaps with my score. However, I also LOVE to write songs too. Especially on this show. Such was the case for this track. After delivering the score music for "From Paris With Love" to the mix stage, [w]e had a montage that we still needed to find a replacement song for. This is the scene where we first see Holly. |
Martha (my hero) had this brilliant idea of the fun romantic French pop sound in the 70's for the montage. So that night I found an hour or so and came up with this. The best part was trying to pull off the french. I ain't no french guy by any means---My French is poor to say the least. But again that's the fun. The French artist's back in the day loved to play with improved & imperfect french and english- which is why [in my honest opinion] it is soooo much fun." |
So in case you got lost in the awesome of this note, the reason we couldn't find it anywhere is because James wrote the song himself---and in French! Wait til you read the translated lyrics (posted below), they are just TOO PERFECT! First, take a listen to the track as a refresher! | |
My desire, baby
My little cabbage,
(ba ba doop da boo)
My Love, baby
You Drive Me Crazy
(ba ba doop ba doo)
It's Me It's Me
It's the Snowman in the Night.
Again, Again,
My ba-ba-be
Oh No Oh No.
My Love
My little cabbage
(ba ba doop ba doo)
I've arrived because
You Drive Me Crazy.
Hello, Hello, Hello
Hello the light of my heart
So long, So Long, So Long,
Have a good trip
My little Cabbage,
You Drive me Crazy.
Baby.
Many thanks to James for the scoop and for the undeniable talent he brings to Signed, Sealed, Delivered! Look forward to more from you in 2016!
Still Hoping For That Studio Album,
~C
P.S. That orchestral soundtrack we've been wanting might actually be on James' wishlist...it's just a matter of finding some free time to put it together! :)
