Welcome to the first post of 2015!
We've shouted out to the cast, Martha and even the guest stars in the course of daily business. But we haven't taken time to thank the warriors who make all those beautiful scenes a reality. Whether the set designers, props folks, lighting crew, glam squad or boom camera operators, they deserve all the love we can give them!
I wanted to start the year with a posture of gratitude, so today we'll be thanking the unsung heroes behind the scenes.
My deep appreciation started with this video Eric so graciously provided on the final day of filming:

I think what amazed me were the members of the crew that waved at the camera. It was at least 4am Vancouver time when the tweet came through. Who knows what Eric told them before he hit record, but I almost felt like it was his way of showing us all the other people that needed a thank you. A feeling of dedication permeated the :19 second video from beginning to end---it was truly hard to miss!
And their sense of humor during the decent hours is pretty entertaining, too. Just see what they did to Geoff's chair while filming Impossible Dream. |
|
Granted, someone totally spelled his name wrong, which made the joke an epic fail (it means Geoff could have sat there because the person to whom it referred didn't exist!).
But what it demonstrates is the capacity for the cast and crew to have fun with each other, even while filming some of the most intense scenes. This was their day on the tarmac! There's also a lot of love on the set for the cast. When Crystal wanted special blocking marker while filming For Christmas, the crew was happy to oblige. Without markers, Crystal can't line up for those epic scenes. |

And then there's the glam squad.
They make our beautiful cast more beautiful, just by highlighting the flawless features with which they were born. We've seen the glam squad in the makeup trailer and out on the road whether sunshine, rain, sleet or probably even under dark of night! |
After the series finished filming in 2014, Kristin, Eric, Crystal and Geoff all got memory books, presumably put together by the crew! Who makes memory books?---Family!

Of course the love goes both ways---check out the crew thank you gift from SSD4:

And to the hundreds more of you, past, present and future, whose names we do not know, we Postables thank you for everything you did, are doing, and will do in the future. These stories absolutely cannot be told without you. So for your participation, you have our deepest gratitude always.
