Perhaps the shock heard 'round the world was the revelation that Oliver, was, in fact, NOT an O'Toole. I have to say, not even I saw that coming. But it's a great chance to be reminded of something very important: We're all Schmidtz. You see, when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, something crazy happens---you get grafted onto a new family tree. And on that family tree, we all have one Father. So whether you grew up with two fathers, or none at all, you have a Father in God always. |
If you find yourself placing your worth, value or identity in your name, you job, your title or any other worldly thing, remember that God is where your true identity lay. Think about it: has He been trying to get your attention lately?
And if you grew up without a father, He wants to be that, too. In fact, Joe O'Toole's words and actions in Truth Be Told are a great picture of the kind of Father that God wants to be for those who accept Him. I'll cover that tomorrow!
Scriptures for further reference: Romans 11:17 ff, Galatians 4:4-7
Just a little something to meditate on today---and hopefully to extract some hope and perspective from as well!
Definitely Schmidtz,
