Well, really it says, "POstables"---but that's technically you!
It all started a few months back when A&D was in the wilderness. I was actually on my way to a gathering of your fellow POstables who were leaving their homes and lives to meet strangers they had met on the internet. Some even hopped in cars with these strangers for car trips as long as 11 hours never having met before, initially only sharing a love for the POstables and what probably amounts to several thousand tweets over the period of a few months. All descended upon a remote cabin in the hills of Tennessee for a weekend which we will never forget, and would very much like to repeat in the future.
During that trip the idea of sending something to Martha and company was tossed around. A letter opener was the general consensus---but the details weren't known. The question of what to have engraved on it would only come later when it became abundantly clear there might actually be a way to get it delivered to its intended destination. In the end, that avenue became available when it became clear I would be making my way to set. But there was a hitch---I wasn't checking any bags and, of course, letter openers are one of the few prohibited carry-on items. That left only one more option: sending it through the mail. |
Remember that one of my #SetGoals was to leave something on set that we might see in a future installment. And since I had let everyone know that such an easter egg should be arriving in the mail, the letter opener became not only a collective gift to the POstables, but also the item needed to complete the goal.
I can only assume it was Jojo who made the call, but sometime during the course of the afternoon someone actually delivered the mail to set, which, of course, included the seemingly wayward package. Huddled around "Incoming"---otherwise known as Rita's work station---I got my first chance to see the letter opener and read the accompanying card explaining how it all came to be. On one side the letter opener has the collective title shared by all of us diehard fans of the show, "POstables." On the other is engraved the reference, "2 Cor 2:3 - We are all letters." The scripture itself says this: "You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." |
After the gift made its rounds, it found its way onto Oliver's desk among his prized letter openers, hopefully to be seen in SSD7!
So now there really is an item on set with our collective moniker on it, whose home is our beloved DLO!
Arrived,
~C
