So, can we trace the events of Truth Be Told through the calendar days as well? Let's see!
Monday, April 30
Shane returns to work after her apparent resignation---not a word about which is mentioned despite arriving with her box of belongings in hand. Can you tell this glitch still bothers me to this day?! It's also her birthday, and one wayward card, which Shane frantically attempts to locate, causes her to cross paths with Joseph O'Toole. Immediately realizing there is more to the story after their short interaction, Shane invites him to her birthday dinner. |
Later that evening, the four gather at the Mailbox Grille to celebrate Shane's birthday, though the festivities are interrupted by Papa O'Toole's appearance. At the buffet, Norman and Rita continue to discuss the clues of their latest letter, leading to a new revelation, which they quickly share with Oliver in Shane. Cutting dinner short, they return to the DLO, where Norman and Rita reveal the letter's intended recipient is Phoebe Amidon, daughter of missing American soldier, Randilynn Amidon. |
Tuesday, May 1
In what will prove to be the longest day in SSD history, Oliver confides in Shane about his strained relationship with Joseph O'Toole, is pushed to meet with him, is informed of his biological father's death, and is educated in the reality of the situation by the father who actually raised him---all before 2pm. Talk about a busy morning! |
The next time we see the Postables, it is after nightfall and they are closing up shop for the day. As we know, Oliver and Shane both stay, Shane pointing him in the direction of resolution, which ultimately finds Oliver devastated at the park where he dumped the letters from his father, whom he believes has left for good as a result of their earlier argument.
Wednesday, May 2
Oliver seeks out Shane in the wake of his father's departure for support and ends up receiving much more, including Papa O'Toole's forwarding address. Oliver follows up with a visit to his Dad's new place, where Oliver gets some perspective and the two reconcile. Meanwhile Norman and Rita make an early morning delivery to Phoebe, gifting her with the vase she admired at the DLO. |
Still Processing,
