And, of course, that crazy postable fangirl inside responded immediately, semi-committing herself to a blog post on it:
Ummmm.... just found something to watch this weekend! @kristintbooth :) #BlogPostPotential #POstableProbz

But who knew how prophetic, and unforeseeably apropos, the commitment to blog about it would be? Because, of course, I did end up watching it over the weekend, re-living the nostalgia of my Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM)-filled childhood!
Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars is a sequel/re-imagination of sorts to the 1996 film Harriet the Spy, starring Michelle Trachtenberg and Rosie O’Donnell. This installment, however, finds Kristin playing lifelong nanny, Golly, to the film’s namesake, Harriet Welsch, played by Jessica Stone (who is just adorable, by the way!). Harriet is 16 and aspires to be the official blogger for her prep-school class. Quite unexpectedly, there are some pretty striking similarities between Golly and all four Postables, Hence that time Kristin played all the SSD characters at once. Someone as analytically driven as me couldn’t possibly ignore what was right there in front of me, nor deprive you of the knowledge gained through that analysis once shared with you! Besides, the worst that could happen is that you appreciate Kristin that much more---and there's definitely nothing wrong about that! |
The Quotes
The Dream
And, for the record, I'm not sure I agree with the whole "best friends have secrets, too" thing. I think if you have a bestie, especially if you've known them long-time, then you would---and should---probably know everything there is to know about each other. We should all be so lucky!
The Guide & the Glue
Much like Shane, Golly also has a knack for pointing people back to each other and to what's important, even if she does so with a bit sharper tongue than Shane might have! Watch her set Harriet's mother straight and put mother and daughter on a path towards reconciliation of a very distant relationship.
[Spoilers for a major plot point in the film if you think you're interested in watching later. But, really, you'll probably watch it now anyways because Kristin is in it!]
The Sweaters
And then I found it: sweaters!
Only rarely do you ever see Norman without one---Google it. And that's something he and Golly have in common, as evidenced below, as well as in the previous videos:
Pretty cool, huh? Kristin actually managed to grab the essence of all four Postables in one performance before the Postables were even a thing--this film was made in 2010!
At the very least, this shows that I can make anything revolve around SSD if I really try hard. I am not ashamed of that. Feel free to keep watching these dope videos, I totally made them myself using iMovie for the first time in years! Watch out---videos might become a thing around here now that I know I can do it!
You probably want to watch Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars now, don't you?
Don't worry, it's online streaming and on Amazon. It's a good family movie and worth the 90 minutes to see Kristin, even if you can't digest the main storyline. Trigger warning: singing and dancing teenagers, teen heartthrobs, and mean girls! LOL
Hope you learned something new today. Have a great weekend!
Semi-subconsciously Obsessed With Kristin,
